“In the space provided” is the first dance Liz and I made together.  Humorous, physical, and personal, we reveal our working relationship and friendship by engaging in conversation with each other and the audience while combining gestures related to our own personal narratives with rigorous physical partnering. The script is loose enough for us to embellish, but tight in order for us to push the dance forward and demonstrate our acute skill to match words with specific movements, rhythms of speaking to rhythms of choreographic sequences, meanings of words to possible meanings of  gestures. We investigate the realm of new friendships: the oddly coincidental randomness of first meetings and the ways in which we weigh and measure a potential friend when we are choosing if we want them in our lives. "In the space provided" experiments with integrated movement and text, both set and improvised, challenging our ability to parallel process differing pieces of information.  “In the space provided” Premiered at the Phoenix Theater in Phoenix, AZ and has been presented at Museaum of Contemporary Art San Diego, Joyce SoHo in New York City, Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica, CA, CounterPULSE in San Francisco, CA, and at Scripps College in Claremont, CA to name a few.
